Finished Floors – Before and After Kids' Rooms Transformation

A month ago I shared my plans to tear out all the carpeting in my kid's bedrooms. They were the last three rooms in our home that still had carpet in them; it was time to replace them with wood floors. I have been wanting to embark on this project for a few years now and what gave me the push is when my daughter Celine's dust allergies got worse. We knew it was time!

I partnered with LL Flooring for my project. The first thing I had to do was choose the new flooring! I chose Monterey Bay Hickory Engineered Hardwood Flooring because I knew that I wanted light floors for their rooms to keep things light and bright. I was looking for the right shade that also offered a warm tone. What I loved about these specific style, is the variation in colors that gave us subtle shades of beige and grey. I knew they would not only brighten the kids’ rooms but would also make them feel cozy. The variation in the colors and the distressed texture was a slam dunk!

We started off with our flooring contractor, Tony, tearing out all the old carpet. Boy, did it feel good seeing it all come out and get thrown away! After clearing all the rooms, Tony was ready to get started on the fun part! The moment the planks were finally ready to be installed, we were doing the happy dance! I was relieved when the project was done. The floors look fantastic in the bedrooms. The colors I chose were right for us and the kids love the transformation!

Now the bedroom carpet has been removed showing plywood subfloor underneath and the first few planks of new flooring going down.

We decided to give the rooms a fresh new coat of paint and then in came all their furniture! I changed out their bedding, but we kept all the furniture. Each room has its own style and color palette, selected for each kid. So having such pretty, warm toned floors to complement everything else going on in each space was a huge plus! No more worrying about spot cleaning and spills on carpet and ,most importantly, I can already see the difference with Celine's allergies!
