These kitchens remind us of just how stylish this space can be!

Everyone knows that the kitchen is the heart of the home, as it’s where people naturally gather to share stories and connect over home-cooked food. But, with this awesome popularity also comes an onerous weight, since your kitchen must bear the burden of being your home’s symbolic center while also checking off a long list of functional and utilitarian needs.

That’s why we love a kitchen that’s filled with personality and character, with smart design that offers clever storage and maximum utility. It makes cooking a fun, exciting journey to be shared with loved ones rather than a stressful, scattered slog. Here, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite knockout kitchens—ranging from country cozy to coastal cool. These are the designs that we are most thankful for this holiday season, and that we hope you’ll dare to emulate in your own home.

Coastal Cool

The trend of the moment, when it comes to kitchen cabinetry, appears to be in line with 2022’s most popular color: green. All year, kitchen looks have been jumping on the bandwagon, with shades of sage and forest green adorning cabinetry, and we couldn’t be more supportive.

Whether lighter or deeper in tone, this organic, earthy color brings instant life into the kitchen. For more of a West Coast vibe, check out spaces like internet personality Emma Chamberlain’s down-to-earth Los Angeles home as inspiration. It mixes deep natural wood tones with shades of pale green on the cabinets and backsplash, resulting in a room that feels both lively and calming.

Midtown Modern

Modern kitchens don’t always have to mean white and stainless steel (although that’s always chic). Spaces like this kitchen, designed by FINNE Architects out of Seattle, utilize the warmth of natural wood stain with a monochromatic, modern twist. With soft, pale-blue frosted tiles as a backsplash, the wood of the flooring and cabinetry are take center stage, resulting in a look that’s fresh and modern.

Country Cozy

Much like modern kitchens don’t always need to be bright white and metallic, country kitchens don’t always need to be colorful and cluttered (although again, that can be fun too). This kitchen is the perfect blend of clean and comfortable, with white shiplap that gives it country charm with deep-colored wood floors and antique accents.

The most important element for any country kitchen is making it feel lived-in, which can be achieved in a number of ways: through repurposed or antique decor and accent pieces (like stools or wall hangings) or even rustic finishes, such as a deep farmhouse sink or copper fixtures. Wherever you decide to go, the leading rule here this: more is more.
