Do you have your heart set on wood floors, but also worry about getting them wet? Or maybe, your budget is factoring heavily into your decision-making, and you don't think solid hardwood is currently on the menu. These possibilities are enough to give anyone pause, but they don't mean that you have to give up your dream of beautiful wood-look flooring. You can actually get waterproof vinyl flooring that looks like wood—down to the color, grain patterns, and texture—at a budget-friendly price.

Read on to learn more about this innovative product and how it can be a practical solution for your home.

What Is Vinyl Plank Flooring?

Vinyl plank flooring is made up of individual planks or tiles, not sheets that you roll out. These planks include a protective wear layer on top, followed by a décor layer, a sturdy core, and then a padded layer. Also, our embossed in register (EIR) graining involves a combination of textured grain patterns for more authentic looks. Thanks to a greater number of unique patterns, you won’t notice repetitions on the floor, leading to a more natural-looking result.

We offer selections in traditional luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and rigid vinyl plank (RVP). Our rigid vinyl plank collection, CoreLuxe, contains a stone-based polymer composite (SPC) core for an extra level of strength and dent resistance. Our CoreLuxe line includes the Harmony Collection, which features a UV-cured surface layer for increased resilience. Also, its color and texture are printed directly onto the SPC core for our most realistic wood-look vinyl plank flooring yet.

What are the Benefits of Vinyl?

All of our vinyl flooring is waterproof, so you can feel free to install it anywhere in your home that's prone to spills, splashes, and drooling pets. Vinyl’s wear resistance also makes it a great option for rooms with high foot traffic. Our rigid vinyl plank, with its SPC core, is a particularly good choice for areas with heavy furniture or anywhere you may be concerned about dents and scratches.

Vinyl flooring also has advantages when it comes to installation and cost. The easy click-together installation, for example, makes it a very manageable DIY project, and you can even find peel-and-stick vinyl flooring that represents the height of installation ease.

What Kind of Wood Looks Can I Find?

At LL Flooring you’ll discover luxury wood-look vinyl flooring that matches décors from casual to formal and tastes from contemporary to traditional. Browse through our many colors, textures, and grain patterns for the perfect match for your home. You’ll find designs evocative of natural oak, red oak, white oak, maple, ash, acacia, pine, teak, and cherry hardwood flooring—among others.

Choose a deep brown with a distressed texture to lend a cozy, rustic ambiance to your bedroom or den. Smooth-textured planks in rich or reddish brown hues, on the other hand, will add elegance to areas such as your dining room or home office. Remodeling a beach house or just want to get that beachy feel at home? Try one of our weathered gray designs. A medium brown with a subtle grain pattern can be a versatile choice that fits a range of design styles. Or, you can go daring with a very strong grain pattern to make your floor a real showpiece.

When comparing your options, don’t forget about plank width and length. This can affect the feel of your room, with wider planks—especially in lighter colors—creating a more open atmosphere. And, longer planks make for a much nicer installation with fewer seams.

Where Can I Put Wood-Look Vinyl?

Vinyl flooring that looks like wood planks is a wonderful way to bring the warmth and feel of wood into places you wouldn’t dare install hardwood, such as your bathroom or basement. You can use darker tones to bring cozy elegance to larger rooms or go with lighter grays and blondes to open up a small space. Lighter tones will also help brighten a bathroom with no windows. Also consider vinyl plank for your mud room, kitchen, basement, or laundry room.

How Do I Install Wood-Look Vinyl Plank?

Vinyl plank flooring is simple to install and is suitable for any level of your home. Click-together installation is a straightforward option and doesn’t require nails or glue. The locking mechanism feature allows you to snap the planks into place, creating a floating floor. Alternatively, you could glue down your floors or go with a peel-and-stick option. Consult your product’s warranty, installation, and care guide for exact installation instructions.

Note: For floating floors, we do recommend an underlayment for improved sound and feel. You can also find vinyl plank complete with attached padding.

How Do I Maintain My Wood-Look Vinyl Flooring?

One of the other big benefits of vinyl is how easy it is to clean. Since it’s waterproof, you can freely wet-mop your floors when needed. In terms of everyday maintenance, you can sweep your floor or use a vacuum that doesn’t have hard bristles or beater heads. We also recommend our handy maintenance kit to help keep your floors clean. Also, our Bellawood Floor Cleaner is designed to help keep your vinyl clean without dulling the wood-look effect.

Explore LL Flooring’s wood-look vinyl plank options for stylish and practical flooring that’s easy on the budget. We offer a number of ways for you to compare designs and get a feel for the product.
